Submitting to search engines is just not enough.

Submitting your website to any random search engine or to multiple business directories could result in your website being poorly ranked and Page Rank Dropped.

Unfortunately having a listing in multiple search engines doesn't go very far, as everybody knows just having your website listed in google, yahoo & msn would be more than sufficient as this is the main search engines people use globally.

Being in any particular directory or search engine site takes some thought and research and is highly recommendable you can look at all the avenues in which the advertisement or links are placed in a website.

This will result in not only giving you a quality listing but also giving you a substantial amount of visits that you may be seeking in order for this listing to also make you some money or atleast pay for itself.

Having said that some search engines or listings may also have no relevancy to link performance, as the links are often are free flowing link in mainly search engines that is, as apposed to a link in a directory of some sort, perhaps a business directory, you will find that an active anchor link is highly more relevant and gets crawled and weighed to give you a very nice PR level.

This is where the quality of links usually get bought in this day and age to be included in some powerfully packaged website, and this is a great way to get one way links as one way links are much more powerful than a reciprical link

The most common type of link and the less valued link is the one that is cued up along with multiple domains all on one page, The quality of a link is determined by not only how many links are placed next to other links all on one page but also the location that it is placed for example the file name, www.thailand-search.com/filename? and also the Title name of the page along with the backend keyword text that is crawled by search engines,

A study was taken place on one particular website that had the same amount of quality incoming links but leading the website of benefit to a different PR level, The reason in which it resulted in a different PR level was from the backlinks in which it had no title relevancy and meaning amongst a few other basic layout structure issues.

With this in mind, we ourselves tested this to the point that all our pages were so finely tuned that even with a PR0 on every 300 pages on a site resulted in still being found on the first page in google under many search terms that were commonly used for that particular site.

Not to mention the words being typed in google under the relevant terms leading to the results of other doorway pages in the directory leading to the relevant links (that are paid links) leading direct to the advertiser and the link that than goes straight to their website.

This is one of the best examples that comes to mind with a very well optimised site with less PR level, and great search results, leading to be found than with a site with a higher PR level but less search result relevancy. Of course a high PR site is the ultimate goal for any website owner, but is not the end-all.

Another example is a PR0 page that is so finely tuned in a directory, that when put to the test if you had a paid listing for example something like Pay4Advertising.com from webpage www.thailand-search.com/advertising-agencies.php and you than type in the words "thailand advertising agencies " in google, yahoo, or msn and the website directory your advertising in just so happens to be optimised on an organic level you will see your listing in the results before many other pages that are amongst websites that may have a higher PR level.

This brings us back to the fact, that the website has been so finely tuned that the PR in this case is irrelevant, or perhaps the PR level is about to burst, which could well be a PR0 today and a PR 5 Tomorrow.

Having an eye on a PR level website when weighing up the odds of advertising or paying for a listing in a website directory along with page title relevancy, also bare in mind the other factor of quality link (from what link title page is it linking from?) and how many links are on the same page (the more links you have on a directory page the less value it may be worth) along with page title name, and how the page is structured, are you well noticed amongst others, along with other basic issues as well.
